A letter received from Edward’s Trust following a performance of drumming and song
“2 November 2007
“Dear Beth and Neville
“I am writing to thank you for your lovely musical contribution to our Bereaved Children’s Remembrance Time. We are most grateful to you for giving your time and your music to us and for being part of this special time.
“This was the first event of this kind that we have held especially for bereaved children. The feedback we have received, both on the day and subsequently, has been very positive. You helped to create a beautiful and moving event and one that will certainly be repeated.
“Once again many thanks for being part of this event.
“Warmest good wishes
“Yours sincerely

A Celebration of Kwanzaa at Pitcheroak School
“Pitcheroak School is an all age school for pupils with a variety of different learning difficulties. Pupils from the middle school department have been involved in the celebration of Kwanzaa.
“Neville Brown and Beth Haining, from “Talking Drums” were invited to participate in the celebration.
“Throughout the planning stages and the provision of the drumming workshop, Beth and Neville impressed us with their enthusiasm, commitment and cultural knowledge. Not only did the pupils benefit from such a positive celebration of black culture, they also experienced the therapeutic effects of interacting with drums.
“Throughout the day, it was evident that individual pupils found a “voice” through playing the drums. Some found opportunities to relax and explore their emotions with guidance from Beth and Neville.
“As a result of this exciting and purposeful day we hope that Beth and Neville will join us again in the future.”
